1. Fertilizing is not necessary during the rainy season. Most of the fertilizer is
wasted, as the heavy rains wash away the fertilizer before the plant can draw
any nutrients from them.
2. Do not
overwater your orchids. Water clogging deprives the roots of air the vitality
of the roots is lowered, thus inviting bacterial or fungal infection in the
plant. Water requirements differ from every species in any one locality and for
each season. The importance of the right amount of water cannot be emphasized enough.
3. Do not let
water collect and stagnate on the tops of new shoots or at the places where
the leaves joint the stems. Water the roots.
4. Do not
choke your plant roots by potting them so that they can’t breathe. Use correct
potting and porous materials.
